home. sweet. home.

So, it was a year ago today that we found our little house. Super bowl Sunday.....we weren't even looking to buy, we were out looking at different potential neighborhoods for one day when we thought we would buy. That day came fast and the moment we walked in the door we were in love. It was the ugliest house on the street but we were hooked from the moment we walked in the door. Here we are a year later living in our little dream starter house. We couldn't be happier. It is definitely a blessing that we are SO thankful for. Just remember that our door is always open :)
A little update on the family, Pops is doing a little better. He is back at rehab and has his own room because he has an infectious disease. We joked on the phone yesterday that maybe it isn't so bad since he got his own suite out of it and got to watch the super bowl with the TV to himself! He never complains and everyday when we talk we remind each other of all the blessings in our life and just to take each day as it comes. It's a great reminder and every day when we hang up I praise God for allowing us to talk one more time. You don't realize how precious it is until you lose it..in my case I lost it for a month when we couldn't talk. I will never take it for granted again

Another prayer request I have is grandma ruehlmann (Chris' gma) is in the hospital right now due to high blood pressure, she was supposed to go in for surgery on Tuesday due to a tumor in her colon but that has been pushed back until they get her heart under control. She is so precious so please lift her and grandpa elmer up in your prayers!

GF and GM Styll are doing well, still spunky and busy as ever....

here is a cute pic from the wedding...

The day it became ours!
THEN

and....

NOW a work in progress :)

Homemade Pop Tarts

To be honest, I’m not a fan of the boxed pop tarts but homemade ones make me weak in the knees. Our local coffee shops here in Tennessee sell them and they’re my guilty pleasure.  I decided to take a quiet Tuesday morning and make some with my sweet boy.
Here’s what I did..

The best iced coffee, ever.

When Chris and I went to Mexico this past winter we quickly become addicted to their  blended espressos. I found myself craving them when we got home so I played around with a couple of instant espressos and ended up making the best iced coffee, ever.

What you’ll need.  Medaglia D’oro instant espresso Water IceCoffee creamer of your choiceHeavy cream + caramel Trust me on the instant espresso. I tried them all. This is the best. I get it at Kroger. I’ve also heard Walmart carries it as well as trusty amazon.
Step one.  Get your ingredients out.

I fill my glass up halfway with water and pour a capful of instant espresso in.

Mix it real good.

Time to cool it down.

Now comes the sweet part.

This next step is money.  Lordy.

If you’re feeling really naughty you can add caramel sauce.  Do it.

If you’ve been wanting the recipe for the BEST homemade caramel ever then you’re in luck.  This is the recipe from my mother in law.  It is life changing.

A healthier me.

Remember my Trust your gut  post?I feel like a whole new girl since I wrote that a month ago.  So many things have been confirmed and I feel like my happy healthy self again.
All because of two things; 1. The gallbladder cleanse that I posted about.  Literally saved my gallbladder and my sanity.  No more stomach pain! And I can drink wine and margaritas without pain again! 🙌🏼
2. I found out that I have a sensitivity to gluten. It's still a mystery to me as to how I developed this but all I know is that when I do have gluten my joints hurt, I get awful headaches and an upset stomach along with bloating.
Back to my first post about this... I took a "before picture" thinking I was going to 5-10 pounds and then post my "after" picture. 😂😂😂
Truth is, there are still plenty of calories in gluten free food. The other truth is I'm 80-20 gluten free. I still enjoy a few non-gluten free treats here and there (and then pay for it later).
I love food. I reward myself wit…
