It's good.

It has been a really great week for us. We've been able to spend a lot more time than usual together which has been awesome...last night Chris and I went to Yorba Regional Park and had a little nature walk. I was a little freaked walking through the forest of trees in the dark but it such a fun night. We saw a bat, a jumping fish and some little animal (not sure what it was)...very exciting. I felt like I was in a horror movie the whole time though because I looked over my shoulder every 4 seconds to make sure nothing was behind us. The whole time Chris was pointing out the good bass fishing areas in the lake. Just so you know if you would like to know where to catch bass in a lake, bring me along...I can point them out in nothing flat.
Small group with my high school girls was tonight and it was awesome! We have been talking about prayer and what God says about it. Prayer is intense and is a privlidge, it's sad to think that so many people don't take it seriously or only pray when things seem to go wrong in their life. An awesome chapter on Prayer is Matthew 6:5-15, it talks about how we are to pray. There's a verse at the end of it that really hit my girls and I.
"For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men of their sins, your Father will not forgive you".-Matthew 6:14-15
That is really big and is a great reminder to all of us to forgive those who have hurt us or done something wrong to us. My girls are awesome and we are all so excited to be digging in God's Word every week learning something new and growing in our walk. I am so thankful for God using me where I am at, even when I don't feel qualified.
It's time that I go and pack now, Chris and I are going to house/pet sit for 8 days in Corona Del Mar. We are really looking forward to it and getting away...we're going to make a little vacation out of it. I'll post more once we've settled in.

Celebrating 10 years..

Chris and I celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary on October 6th! We celebrated today by spending the entire afternoon and evening together, kid free.  I found a killer deal for couples massages on Groupon and learned that if a deal looks too good to be true, it is.  Things we've learned after 10 years of marriage; don't take yourself too seriously, laughter is the secret to a good time and chocolate makes everything ok.

TwistShake Baby

Our sweet Sophie Mae is just starting to take a bottle like a pro. You know where I can finally run some errands kid free and not stress about her starving because she only likes the boob.  I've been giving her a bottle 3x a day, the main one being at bedtime to ensure she gets a belly full because sleep is a good thing!  We are in a good transition and I plan to stop nursing when she's around 9 months old.  I've collaborated with TwistShake Baby! They are a company out of Sweden and they make the most awesome Baby bottles.

10 years..

Friends.
It's been 10 years since I created southernatheart.
10 whole years.
I remember sitting in our little cottage in Southern California logging in and creating this blog like it was yesterday.
I've always had a passion to write.  I have piles of journals from my teen years and early 20s.  Writing has been and still is therapeutic for my soul.  Whether it's pen to paper in a journal, a blog post or like the most recent years a post on Instagram.  It's how I express myself and my thoughts best.  Documenting life through the good times and hard.

These past three years I've simply ignored my blog because I lost the desire and all the extra time to sit and write.
Something stirred inside me recently and that was to log back in and get this thing going again.
I don't know what it's going to look like, nor can I tell you what to expect here but we'll figure that out as we go.
Exciting things are happening I expect this blog along with Instagram to be part of t…
