.Monday.

Today was a blessing. I love Mondays because I get to start the day off in the Word in the Bible study that I am in. It is incredible. I spent the whole day with mom and dad- we went to COSTCO, played wii, swam..it was great. They bought Chris and I a pretty awesome BBQ today. We are so thankful and can't wait to have our first bbq here at our house! My parents are seriously the most generous people we have ever met. Our desire is to be like them- they are always giving to others with joyful hearts. We are so thankful for all they have done for us. Thanks mom and dad! Tonight we went to Home Depot to order the rest of our interior doors (well sort of) we have 2 more to order after these 3 come in. Our bucket list is looking pretty good for 2008! After Home Depot we went back to mom and dads to swim and play wii with some of the high schoolers, graduated high schoolers and some of the staff. I love those people. Good times.

Where is your treasure?

Church was really good this morning. We had a guest speaker and he talked on the topic of being rich. It was interesting. I am sure Chris and I will ever be able to consider ourselves rich in the eyes of the world. However, we are extremely blessed when you look at the rest of the world. We have a nice roof over our heads, food on the table for every meal, cars to get us from one place to the next and so on.. It was a great reminder that the things that bring us pleasure here are so temporary, we aren't taking them with us. Like the pastor said, you never see a Hearst pulling a u-haul! It was an encouragement for Chris and I knowing that we have all we need in Christ. Our hope is in Him and He provides all we need. We don't need a big fancy house or new fancy cars to make us happy or to prove one thing or another. “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, wh…

A day of rest!

Yes! That is what today was. We were in desperate need of a day to ourselves so we headed down to the beach after church and had a perfect day. We did lots of hiking, ate at our favorite gelato place and laid out for a few hours. I am now a cherry tomato, ouch! It was so beautiful at Laguna today. Check out the clear-warm water! We went for a night swim and did lots of laps, we are so out of shape...I'm in freak out mode to get in shape before our up-coming trips! That's all for today....looking forward to spending the rest of the week with just my husband and me before he is off next Sunday night for a fishing trip for a few nights.

Girls and our beach cruisers

re-cap

It's been a fun past couple of days. Chris and I had two date nights last week which was awesome! We went to a couple of our favorites, Shiki and Wood Ranch. Mmmm! Thursday night we had dinner at his parents house and they had his high school pastor over and his family. They are such great people, it was such a joy to meet them and spend some time with them. Last night we went to grandma and grandpas house for dinner, it was a spur of the moment thing and it worked out so well. We had been missing them so it was great to get down there and spend some time with them and hear more of grandpas stories. I didn't get to video any of them this time, I was too into them. The best part was them telling us how they like to flirt with other people. Grandpa said he has ladies that flirt with him all the time but he doesn't flirt back, he just looks. Grandma loves to flirt and apparently has the men all over her- I believe it! They are too funny! I guess when you have been married for…

100

days until our one year anniversary and Cabo!
But whos counting?

nice night.

It' s been a great day despite the fact that I'm a little under the weather. We finally had a night of just being at home. We did some gardening, went to the pool and went on a nice long walk tonight. I got a call from my sister and they are having a blast at Hume. I wish I was there to experience it with her but it's probably a good thing that she is "on her own". I know that God is going to make Himself so real to them this week. I am so excited to hear all about it!
So, as I said a couple blogs ago...Chris has an interview coming up next Wednesday. We are really excited, but we don't want to get our hopes up and put all our eggs in one basket again. We learned that the hard way a couple weeks ago. We are open and really excited to see where it is that God is going to take us. Pray for him! I'll keep you posted!

We CAN do all things..

This is a true story! Someone forwarded this to me this morning and I thought it was awesome and such a true example of our Father in Heaven. I pray it blesses you as it has blessed me...

A son asked his father, 'Dad, will you take part in a marathon with me?'
The father who, despite having a heart condition, says 'Yes'.
They went on to complete the marathon together. Father and son went on to join other marathons, the father always saying 'Yes' to his son's request of going through the race together.
One day, the son asked his father, 'Dad,let's join the Ironman together.' To which, his father said 'Yes' too.
For those who don't know, Ironman is the toughest triathlon ever.
The race encompasses three endurance events of a 2.4 mile (3.86 kilometer) ocean swim, followed by a 112 mile (180.2kilometer) bike ride, and ending with a 26.2 mile (42.195 kilometer) marathon along the coast of the Big Island.
Father and son went on to complete the r…

straggler.

Sorry, I have been terrible about blogging lately. We have had something going every night and by the time we get home I'm too hot and tired.
A recap of last week:
We had a meeting on Monday and Tuesday night, went to Bible study on Wednesday, Thursday I was in Long Beach for a meeting regarding the PINC ministry, Friday we had a little date night at home (smoked bbq ribs mac & cheese & peaches-Welcome Summe 2008). Yesterday we went to a good family friends house for a surprise party which was a blast! Last night we went to our Truth Project Bible study which we love! Today I got up at the crack of dawn to send 22 high school students off to Hume Lake for the week. It was so bitter sweet for me. I love that place, it's a very special place to me. It is my sisters first time going and I am soo excited for her! God is going to rock her world this week and I can't wait to hear all about it! Part of me wishes I was up there with them, it's so amazing. Church was so …

White House

I think this is so cool and wanted to share because I am so proud of my Uncle John. Last night he and my aunt went to the White House and had a great time with President Bush. There is a video if you go to www.whitehouse.gov/news They celebrated Black Music Month and since my uncle is the President and CEO of the Gospel Music Association, he was invited. It seems like an awesome night and President Bush even announced his name from the pulpit. I would love to meet Bush, he seems like the neatest man. I am thankful for him and for protecting this great country of ours!

Eternity....forever.

My heart was broken this weekend seeing some of my own family members who don't know the Lord and want nothing to do with Him. I really don't have words except I will not stop praying for them and for their hearts and their eyes to be opened to the truth. I pray that they will come to know the truth before their day of judgement comes. Do you realize that if you deny God and His Word, you will be separated from Him for eternity? Even if you are a nice person who does good things! The moment you die is your moment of judgement, you will meet God face to face and if you have denied Him He will separate you from spending eternity with Him and send you into Hell for eternity. Eternity is forever! There is a verse in Matthew 13:42 that describes hell as this "a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth." Picture yourself on the hottest day you've ever experienced, in the most pain you have ever felt, and having your face slammed against a block wal…

Happy Father's Day!

We had a great weekend celebrating our dads and spending time with them. Chris and I are so blessed to have dads who are Godly men, who love and respect their wives, who have trained their children up in the Lord and have been great examples to us and still are! We truly are blessed. I will be forever grateful for the loving family that God placed me in, I appreciate it and desire to create the same loving-God-centered home for our own family. Love you Dads...

missing them.

Last night Chris and I went to one of our high schoolers grad party which was awesome. Then we went to mom and dads so Chris could play wii with dad and smoke Cuban cigars and so mom and I could ride bikes for our nightly exercise. We had an awesome time and made s'mores....mom busted out some old dvds from our church when we first broke off from Calvary and had our first day as "Kindred" at the Elks Lodge. It was the coolest thing but so sad. Chuck wasn't sick yet and the church was booming and you could see Christ' love flow there. Ahh as time goes by you slightly forget how amazing it was and what an incredible teacher Chuck was. Then we watched the 1st anniversary of Kindred and also the first morning on the new property. Chuck was very sick then and ended up passing away 7 months later. We stayed until 12:15am just watching amazing memories. We also watched his memorial service...ahh my heart is broken. Time does help heal the pain but it's so hard to un…

Save the animals!

I know I have talked about this before but it is something that is so close to my heart. I am a crazy animal lover and will go out of my way to save an animal if I have to. Please go to www.langefoundation.com and check out their website. Many of you like myself most likely are not in a position to add one more furry thing to the mix but you can help financially! If you donate $75, you will save an animal (cat or dog) from being put to sleep by the pound. The Lange foundation is a no kill shelter that runs strictly off of donations. These people are amazing. I would love to go down there one day to visit the foundation and play with the animals but I would want to bring all of them home. If you are an animal lover like me, please go and save one!

All of these guys need homes! They also have lab puppies and kittens! Check them out!

2 Corinthians 1:3-7

"(3)Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort,(4) who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.(5) For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows. (6)If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. (7)And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, you also share in our comfort."

I love this verse because it is full of hope.
I went on http://www.blueletterbible.org/ to look up the translation of this from Pastor Chuck Smith put it in simple terms.

Verse 4:When we experience God's help and comfort during a trial. we're better prepared to minister to others

Verse 5:Paul had endured many suf…

Friends.

Yesterday was such a great day. I had my Bible Study that lasted 4 hours! It was so awesome. We are doing the book "Living Water" by Chuck Smith, it's on the Holy Spirit. I am learning so much and am so encouraged. There are the most amazing women in the study, it is so refreshing to go and know that it is a safe place and can open up about what is going on in our lives. I am so thankful for it!
My girlfriend Amy and her little guy Matt came over and hung out for a little bit which was great. It was so fun seeing them and being able to spend some time together.
Chris and I went to our friends Brent and Patti's house for dinner along with Drew and Jen. We had a great time together. Good food (really good food!), fun games (I think I threw my shoulder out bowling on the wii) and laughter. We are thankful for such fun and great friends!

Senior Day

We were in San Diego for the afternoon yesterday with all of our seniors, it was so much fun spending 11 hours with them. We love those kids so much and are going to miss them even more! Here are some fun pictures from our day...we went to Hard Rock for dinner and then went to the Padres/Mets game. Angels stadium is way better.

Their "prank" on the staff...they flew out of the van and ran wild around the city and pushed each other in carts. Funny.

LOVE them!

Dorky picture. We all got free hats! woo!

Guys night.

I am totally out numbered tonight. We have a couple of the high school senior guys over along with two of the guys from high school staff...they are having a guys all nighter. I am good for nothing but preparing food and drinks which I am very good at. Our house has never been so smelly and so loud but I love it. Our favorite thing is being able to open up our home and make it feel like home to who ever comes over. It is making me so excited for one day when we have teenagers, I hope we have boys because they are hilarious and I am loving this. These guys are like my brothers and they treat me like I'm their sister. They have re-arranged the living room and have xbox 360 projected on the wall along with the wii, its hilarious. It's going to be a long night, I just made pizookies and am waiting for them to cook so I can go to bed. This is just the beginning, we are taking the senior class to San Diego tomorrow for "Senior Day". I can't wait! I love these kids and …

Small group.

Tonight was my last night with my P31 girls (Proverbs 31). They are my small group girls that I love and adore to pieces! 3 of them are seniors and 2 of them are juniors. My girl Taryn is leaving us and moving to Arizona to attend ASU. I am so sad! Anyway-these girls have made a huge impact on our life and I am so thankful for them and each of their stories. I made them a big dinner tonight and we sat around and told stories and laughed the whole time. I love you girls and always will!! Remember to seek His face daily!

The Lord is our strength.

I have been completely broken today. I'm not writing this for anyone to feel bad for us or anything along those lines. The kind of brokenness we have is one that has brought us to our knees before the Lord. We are honestly at a place in our life that neither of us have ever been before. It is most the amazing feeling yet one of the scariest and at the same time we are so thankful for it. Everything that we "own" does not belong to us, it is the Lords. He gives and takes away and we are thankful. This morning I went to Bible study, it was our first one and its a small group filled with the most incredible Goldy women I have ever met (my mom being one of them!). It was so refreshing being there even though I cried the whole time. We are learning about the Holy Spirit and I totally felt Him there this morning. Those women prayed over me all morning. I can't even explain the feeling. We are so blessed with such amazing people that God has put in our life- and they pray f…

The Gate.

Tonight was bittersweet. As most of you know Chris and I have been serving on high school staff for the past 2.5 years. It has been a huge part of our life and such a blessing. Tonight was our last night with our kiddos and man was it tough! Those kids are amazing and have brought us so much joy! I have learned so much from them and I pray that in these past couple years we have made a mark in their life. We have been praying about this for a while and God made it clear and brought a peace to our heart that it was time to leave. We trust that God is going to raise up leaders to serve those kids and to pour Christs' love them. I am going to miss it so much. Thank you Lord for allowing us to serve your children for a little while and for blessing our life with high school ministry. We are forever thankful for this...

Praying for our seniors..
water works were on all night...

love you guys forever..
