Let's make a deal

I love a good deal. Who doesn't?  Especially for a family like us on one income, I am all over coupons, specials, promo codes...you name it. I have a few fun sites I wanted to share with y'all. Some of them are a little out of the ordinary but fun to check out nonetheless. I am that girl who sits down on a Sunday afternoon and clips my coupons. I have my handy dandy coupon keeper in my purse and I never buy anything online without googling to see if there are any promo codes or specials offered. I love going to the store and spending $50 with a little note at the bottom of my receipt that says "you saved $24 dollars today".

Here are a couple sites to check out..

Coupons and discounts
  • www.couponmap.com - you type in your zip code and it will bring up deals in your area.
  • www.redplum.com - click on the coupons you need, download their free coupon printer software and print!
  • www.smartsource.com- same deal as redplum, i love this site!
  • www.livingsocial.com - send them your email with your city and they will send you fun deals for restaurants near by to spa services. FUN!
  • www.restaurant.com- buy gift certificates more then half off at your favorite local restaurants!
Other fun sites
  • www.nobetterdeal.com- random things. They sell items that have been returned & overstock from big retailers. A good place to catch a good deal!
  • www.shopgoodwill.com- I have never bought anything off this site but I have heard it is addicting like EBay. Fun to browse.
  • Google or check out your yellow pages under "hotel surplus". You can find some awesome furnishings from hotels at a steal!
Oh and one last super fun site that is great when you are in need to make a meal or bake a tasty treat is..
www.allrecipes.com Type in the ingredients you have on hand and it will put together an awesome meal!

Happy shopping!

Homemade Pop Tarts

To be honest, I’m not a fan of the boxed pop tarts but homemade ones make me weak in the knees. Our local coffee shops here in Tennessee sell them and they’re my guilty pleasure.  I decided to take a quiet Tuesday morning and make some with my sweet boy.
Here’s what I did..

A healthier me.

Remember my Trust your gut  post?I feel like a whole new girl since I wrote that a month ago.  So many things have been confirmed and I feel like my happy healthy self again.
All because of two things; 1. The gallbladder cleanse that I posted about.  Literally saved my gallbladder and my sanity.  No more stomach pain! And I can drink wine and margaritas without pain again! 🙌🏼
2. I found out that I have a sensitivity to gluten. It's still a mystery to me as to how I developed this but all I know is that when I do have gluten my joints hurt, I get awful headaches and an upset stomach along with bloating.
Back to my first post about this... I took a "before picture" thinking I was going to 5-10 pounds and then post my "after" picture. 😂😂😂
Truth is, there are still plenty of calories in gluten free food. The other truth is I'm 80-20 gluten free. I still enjoy a few non-gluten free treats here and there (and then pay for it later).
I love food. I reward myself wit…

The best iced coffee, ever.

When Chris and I went to Mexico this past winter we quickly become addicted to their  blended espressos. I found myself craving them when we got home so I played around with a couple of instant espressos and ended up making the best iced coffee, ever.

What you’ll need.  Medaglia D’oro instant espresso Water IceCoffee creamer of your choiceHeavy cream + caramel Trust me on the instant espresso. I tried them all. This is the best. I get it at Kroger. I’ve also heard Walmart carries it as well as trusty amazon.
Step one.  Get your ingredients out.

I fill my glass up halfway with water and pour a capful of instant espresso in.

Mix it real good.

Time to cool it down.

Now comes the sweet part.

This next step is money.  Lordy.

If you’re feeling really naughty you can add caramel sauce.  Do it.

If you’ve been wanting the recipe for the BEST homemade caramel ever then you’re in luck.  This is the recipe from my mother in law.  It is life changing.
