Oh my Kate

Our little one is a character. We can't get over her personality and the little things she does that are absolutely hilarious. Kate is getting bigger, stronger, smarter and cuter as the days fly by.
Her new favorite things to do are:
* stand on the scale every morning while I get ready and pull out all our bath towels. Awesome. As of this morning she weighs 22.8 pounds. She's small but so mighty and solid.
* Run around the house with either laundry or blankets over her head. We try to discourage this but seriously, it's hilarious. Today she grabbed Chris' clean laundry and ran through the house for all of 40 seconds until she ran into the wall..
(sorry about the blurry picture, she was running)

Boom!

Kate's vocabulary is starting to expand..
Mama, Dada, Papa, baa (ball), doo doo (thank you), yo (hello), ree (tree)
We're working on water, kitty and hi right now.
It is so amazing teaching Kate and watching her grow.
Definitely has to be the most rewarding job out there!

Did I mention that Kate has a new look that she gives?
It's not pretty or nice but it is hilarious.
It's extra funny when she looks directly at you and does it.
I have tried to capture it and this is the best I can do for now.
It's this minus the smile and more of a scowl.
Sometimes she'll walk around the house with the look on her face for no reason.
I seem to get the look the most because I am the one who is always wiping her face or putting pony tails in her hair. It's hard not to laugh.
 Oh the drama.

She wins the prize for "Drama Queen" in this house. She gets slumpy and mad over the silliest things. Today she was mad because she couldn't move the zipper on her purse. This is the ostrich pose.  She throws her head down on the floor and pouts. Right before she does this she normally holds her cheeks and whines.

It's never boring here at our house. Our days are 100 times more joyful and crazy but absolutely wonderful. It is almost impossible to imagine what our life without Kate was like.
All of God's grace is in Kate's precious face.
We truly cannot get enough of her!

The best iced coffee, ever.

When Chris and I went to Mexico this past winter we quickly become addicted to their  blended espressos.  I found myself craving them when we got home so I played around with a couple of instant espressos and ended up making the best iced coffee, ever.  What you’ll need.  Medaglia D’oro instant espresso  Water  Ice Coffee creamer of your choice Heavy cream + caramel  Trust me on the instant espresso. I tried them all. This is the best. I get it at Kroger. I’ve also heard Walmart carries it as well as trusty amazon.  Step one.  Get your ingredients out.  I fill my glass up halfway with water and pour a capful of instant espresso in.  Mix it real good.  Time to cool it down.  Now comes the sweet part.  This next step is money.  Lordy.  If you’re feeling really naughty you can add caramel sauce.  Do it.  If you’ve been wanting the recipe for the BEST homemade caramel ever then you’re in luck.  This is the recipe from my mother in law.  It is life changing.  Ta-Da!  Tag me on Instagram at

Family Room DIY makeover

Remember that one time my husband bought a tv wall mount and then I decided we needed a new tv stand? And then it made me realize our dark furniture would look way better if I lightened it up? And then it was time to get rid of the old dark throw pillows and dark rug? And then all of a sudden that fireplace looked so out of place. So we gutted it.  All because we put the tv on the wall!  Here’s a little walk down our DIY family room makeover.  Before .  I started with this old corner cabinet that i got for free years ago and painted chocolate brown.  I dusted her off and went to town with chalk paint.  Then I got rid of the old dark rug and started changing out our throw pillows.  Then it was onto the fireplace.  Before   Chris took out part of the wood floor to extend the floor of the tiny fireplace.  We also cleaned out the fireplace and sprayed it with cream paint that can withstand 1,200 degree temperatures.  And then we sucked out the old volcano rock and put in this fire glass fr
