grab a drink and stay awhile..

This past week has kicked my but big time. I'm a little feisty tonight and I think you'll understand why in just a moment. And let me warn you right now that this post is not lady like or very cute. Anything is fair game at this point.

Monday afternoon: Kate throws up after her nap. I will spare you the details but it was one of those where I picked her up and put her in the bathtub with her clothes on to take them off and then scrubbed her. And when I went to clean up the disaster I had to hold my breath. Thank God for leather furniture and Clorox wipes.

Tuesday Night: I went to Yacko aka Bunco but we talked and ate instead of playing. Super fun catching up with old neighbor friends. The last 5 minutes I started to feel sick and 5 minutes after that, it was all over. Y'all I threw up for 14 hours straight! I am not kidding. 9pm to 11am. I slept 30 minutes within those 14 hours. I have never been that sick with the stomach flu before. I can't tell you how many people I prayed for in those 14 hours. It was a great way to keep my mind off of the fact that I would rather have someone poke my eyes out and stomp on me a couple times so I could meet Jesus face to face rather than deal with the pretty porcelain object in my bathroom. Might I also add that Kate was also throwing up. She threw up all over her bed. My dear sweet mom came in and cleaned up hot dogs off her wall.

How cute is she?

Wednesday: I basically looked like I was dead and had a temperature of 103.5
My husband was super man and took care of Kate all day so I could sleep away the flu while my amazing parents kept running up food and different things we needed.

Thursday and Friday: things held steady. I'm getting better everyday and no throw up for Kate!

Saturday: My husband now says he is coming down with something. Has body aches...and such. Awesome. Meanwhile, Kate and I are sitting in the backyard for some sunshine and fresh air when all of a sudden she throws up in my lap. Not just once, but twice. Once again hot dogs were flying and I was holding my breath. Got her all cleaned up and hydrated, did more laundry, busted out more bland foods and pedialite. Motherhood is so glamorous. During this disaster of a day my man is locked away in bed sleeping and woke up 5 minutes after I put Kate to bed. He said he's better. I would be better too after a 4 hour nap. I love my precious husband to pieces but when he is sick or thinks he is getting sick or has sympathy sick pains, he is ultra dramatic and today was not a good day for that. I love you hunny. [yes, he reads our blog]

Oh, and I'm also taking care of our little Bentley boy who is recovering from his big boy surgery.
Declaw and neuter. Another dramatic but sweet one.

Can I just say that I am so tired of laundry, sprite, bland foods, throw up and being thrown up on?! Thanks, that felt good. I am so ready to ditch my sweet little cottage for a day. I'm ready to breathe fresh air without throw up being involved. I am so ready to have chocolate again. It's been 3 whole days. You know something is wrong when I turn down chocolate.

We've concluded that Kate did have a bug and when she has dairy she throws up due to a sensitive tummy. So glad it took me almost a whole week to figure that one out. {Will someone please send me the mom of the week award?}

Y'all it's been a week. I'm tired. I'm grumpy and to top it off my husband just turned off my country music for his video games. I am so ready for a fresh start tomorrow.

Sunday is calling for sunshine, blue skies, friends, football and lots of amazing food [including chocolate].

I can't wait.

Before I end this droopy drawers post I do have something pretty to share. I looked out the window as I was washing dishes and saw the most amazing sunset. One of the best that I've seen in So Cal recently...
Sort of took my breath away.

Tomorrow is a brand new day.
A new week.
Yes!

Goodie Girl Cookie Pop Tarts

Summer is in full swing and Kate and I have a super fun, easy and delicious breakfast or even dessert idea for you to make!  First things first, go find some Goodie Girl Birthday Cake and Magical Animal cookies. They’re gluten free and to die for.  You can make this recipe gluten free by replacing the All Purpose Flour with Gluten Free Flour. Or if you want to skip the homemade dough all together you can use pie crust in the refrigerated section at the grocery store!
Here’s what I did..

The best iced coffee, ever.

When Chris and I went to Mexico this past winter we quickly become addicted to their  blended espressos. I found myself craving them when we got home so I played around with a couple of instant espressos and ended up making the best iced coffee, ever.

What you’ll need.  Medaglia D’oro instant espresso Water IceCoffee creamer of your choiceHeavy cream + caramel Trust me on the instant espresso. I tried them all. This is the best. I get it at Kroger. I’ve also heard Walmart carries it as well as trusty amazon.
Step one.  Get your ingredients out.

I fill my glass up halfway with water and pour a capful of instant espresso in.

Mix it real good.

Time to cool it down.

Now comes the sweet part.

This next step is money.  Lordy.

If you’re feeling really naughty you can add caramel sauce.  Do it.

If you’ve been wanting the recipe for the BEST homemade caramel ever then you’re in luck.  This is the recipe from my mother in law.  It is life changing.

We just did an end of summer party and I bought everything here. The meat selection in fresh and frozen is wonderful.

You know our deep love for ribs.  Chris does them like no other.  So I thought I’d finally share our recipe.
All of our items are from Gordon’s Food Service Store.  (Recipe will be posted below)

After 4+ hours in the oven the ribs go on the grill. Toss on a little extra seasoning and sauce for this part.
